ABOUT A10 PRO
═════════════
A10 PRO is designed to provide an environment in which
a beginner can master basic strategy, a pro can test
systems, and anyone can enjoy either playing or
experimenting with Blackjack.
A10 PRO is divided into five sections:
1. A10 PRO TUTOR:
Gives comphrehensive instructions within the four
major rule variations for play strategy, card counts,
betting patterns and money management.
TUTOR contains 10 structured lessons which introduce
advanced techniques and enable the user to PRACTISE
strategy tactics, betting and count theories without
"learning by losing" at a Casino!
2. A10 PRO SYSTEMS ANALYSIS:
Demonstrates probabilities of winning - statistically
rather than mathematically - grouped as Hit vs Sit,
Double vs Sit and Hit, Split vs Sit and Hit, plus
the Dealer's chances of success with any card, for
each of the four rule variations.
3. GRAPHIC ANALYSIS:
Allows you to choose strategies and betting patterns
or CUSTOM DESIGN a system and test the results.
Systems can be created, tested, saved, improved and
recalled for further experimentation.
4. A10 PRO CASINO SIMULATION:
A10 Pro Blackjack duplicates Casino conditions. Any
combination of up to seven computer generated
players can be used.
CASINO allows manual practice, or will automatically
test systems under "real" casino conditions. Manual
players and computer profiles can play side-by-side
so you may practise beside a "pro" or test several
systems simultaneously. The choices are endless!
5. A10 PRO PLAYER PROFILING:
Computer generated players created from 6 strategies
and four betting patterns, plus custom designed bet
stake and strategy tactics can be combined to create
any system. Profiles can be saved and modified.
For the sake of realism a computer played "novice"
profile is available. It makes all the errors I have
witnessed players making at Casinos. "Novice" will
make obvious errors less often, and uncommon errors
less regularly, by random generation. "Novice" never
makes errors consistently, which after all, is the
very hallmark of the beginner!
A10 BLACKJACK INFO:
The internal Blackjack Information and Program Help
has pop-up scrolling windows for convenience. A10 INFO
files can be printed by typing the following at the
DOS Prompt.
PRINT [/d:device]/[drive:\][path\] A10INFO?.HLP - or
TYPE [drive:\][path\] A10INFO?.HLP>LPT1 (COM1,PRN etc)
A10INFO?.HLP Files range from numbers 1 to 9, as per
the menu choice numbers. "On Line" Help is accessed
during the program by pressing the [F1] key.
The program is the culmination of five years study and
development of my Blackjack theories. Unlike other
forms of gambling, it makes no difference to my games
how many people play my system, or use this program
to develop their own strategy, SO GOOD LUCK !!!, put
the principles in this program to use and...
YOU WILL WIN MORE and WIN MORE OFTEN !
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Note: At Casinos such as Northern Territory and South
Australia you may split up to three times, and double
on any two cards (NT only). Doubling is allowed in
this program but no facility is provided for multiple
splitting. It may be added in updates. Purchasers who
register by using the coupon shown printed below, the
one supplied in the package, or a facsimile thereof
will receive the next update free of charge.
══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
During 1990, I spent six weeks at sitting - playing
and graphing 10,000 hand sequences - testing tactics.
I believed a computer would speed up the process so
when I failed to find a programmer to write this code
for me I began writing it myself. If I had realised
the scale of the effort required I may never have
bothered !!!
10 months later the 1st Blackjack program evolved. The
project was very challenging because I had never used
a computer before! I often worked twenty hour days
while learning the art of programming and estimate
the actual time invested, from woe to go to be over
4000 man-hours !!!
A10 PRO 1.0 was written in Apple Basic on an Apple IIe
and a borrowed Apple II+. It took six months to master
the skills necessary to simulate Blackjack within the
programming limits of the Apple 64 kbyte environment.
In the next four months A10 PRO 2.0 was re-written in
Quick Basic 4.5. It was developed and beta tested on 3
computers ranging from an 8 MHz CGA monochrome circa
'84, to a Super VGA 16 MHz AT.
A10 PRO 3.0 has been refined and developed ever since!
Thanks are due to the following people:
NEIL McEWEN - whose enthusiasm and zest for computing
led me to understand that programming is the ultimate
computer game, and that the only way to play the game
is to teach yourself.
PETER MATTHEWS - whose loan of a machine allowed me
to accomplish a "global rewrite" in 10 days flat.
PETER BANKS - for the gifts of knowledge, books that
were a priceless aid to Quick Basic programming.
RODNEY PLUMB - for the loan of the machine with which
the program was completed and debugged... (I hope !).
GLEN (STEVO) STEPHENSON - for the rivalry, as we both
taught ourselves programming, for the "fast" C ++
code I modified for use in this program and most of
all for loaning me the Apple II+ that got me started.
Thankyou gentlemen !!!
This program achieves in minutes, what once took six
weeks by hand, and that alone makes it all worthwhile.
I hope this program gives you pleasure and improves
your chance of winning, regardless of whether you use
my system or develop your own.

A10 PRO 3.0 (Shareware version) is furnished without a
license agreement or non-disclosure agreement. Feel
free to copy it, upload to BBS's, or pass it on to any
person without charge for sale of the software.
Although not "shareware" in the traditional sense of
genre, this version of A10 Pro 3.0 is scaled down, cut
up and generally butchered so that nearly all areas in
the program are partially functional.
The major area missing is my personal system, which
has been featured in The Courier Mail, QLD Newspapers,
October issue of "The Gambler Magazine", and available
through Mindscape International.
In 1991, at Adelaide Casino, I won $64,500 in cash and
prizes as 1st place in the Johnnie Walker Blackjack
Tournament.
The complete program may be ordered from myself, the
author, at:

The help files viewed at this menu are
the original files included with the
complete program, and are intended to
illustrate the full capability of the
program in action. Actual capabilities
and/or results of keypress actions may
differ in this version.
I am currently working on a Windows (TM
of Microsoft) / Soundblaster (TM of
Creative Labs) version.
Action Applications Australia P/L, my
company, constantly intrudes on this
project with contract programming tasks,
and low cost computer hardware sales -
our philosophy is to pass on the latest
advances in hardware at the lowest
possible cost, to further the computer
capabilities of others at realistic $'s.
